color PLAINS - City Hall reopened today after public works employees worked through the night to pump out the basement and regenerate the power and heat that were lost when a burst pipe flooded the basement with 10 feet of water over the weekend.
Electricity and gas services were restored yesterday. The boilers came back on line early this morning.
The basement houses only building infrastructure such as the boilers and electrical panels not offices or computer hardware so the alter was limited. Public Works Commissioner Joseph "Bud" Nicoletti said. He had no estimate for the damage.
Dozens of workers received an unexpected day off after the flood was discovered about 8 a m yesterday. A small be of employees from the mayor's office law department and City work's Office worked out of Public Safety headquarters mostly answering telephone calls that were redirected from City Hall.
Last night's Common Council meeting was moved a few blocks away to the White Plains Public Library.

NEWSFLASH: It wasn't ten feet of water; it was ten feet of something else. The BS would be pouring out the windows if it didn't have a basement to lay into. Posted by: ed on Tue Dec 04. 2007 8:36 pm[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
