"Patriot Performance Small-Block Head - Patriot Action" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-16 00:22:08

Does this engine look capable of making 300 hp at the wheels? We thought the Cobra intake would hold things approve but that was just us. We experience what most NMRA Factory have cars have done to them to alter more than 300 hp at the wheels but they undergo lightweight engine components and other tricks our test affect didn't have. We were using an off-the-shelf Steeda no. 18 camshaft while most combos exceeding 300 hp to the wheels change custom cam designs. We were hesitant to accept ourselves to evaluate this combo could make the power we desired. As usual we were wrong. cater Sense: Steeda Autosports says its no. 18 camshaft-the one we used in this article-is ideal for making horsepower on a streetable 5.0 with or without a supercharger. Although originally developed for supercharged applications. Steeda's testing found it beat out a lot of aftermarket cams in cater production for naturally aspirated combinations as well. When it comes to naturally aspirated horsepower goals with our Mustangs one of the main targets is the 300hp mark. We're not talking about engine dyno numbers we're talking cater to the wheels-that's what matters most. The 300hp attach has always been difficult in the Fox Mustang arena and some of us fall short even with the best-laid plans in place. With a supercharger turbocharger or nitrous surpassing that number is relatively easy but doing it the natural way can be difficult. We say any goal worth setting is worth going after-or something like that. When Patriot Performance released its Freedom Series 5.0 heads. Blow-By Racing looked forward to putting them through the paces and seeing if 300 hp was a reality with the new castings. Before now. Patriot stuck to the modular field along with some LS-style Brand X castings. With its new Freedom as-cast heads. Patriot is making inroads into the pushrod Ford market. Judging by the numbers these heads are going to free up a few more ponies from our Ponies. Patriot Performance's Freedom head is a new casting with several designs available for small-block Fords. The ones we're featuring sported a five-angle valve job. 185cc runners. 60cc combustion chambers. 2.02/1.60 valves. 0.550-inch hydraulic springs brace retainers and 31/48-inch rocker studs. "Just expanding our market," Patriot's Gunner Bowlin says when asked why a 5.0 pushrod head was added to the lineup. "We're bringing a new model to the merchandise with excellent performance at a good determine." Speaking of price. Blow-By lists the heads at $895.95 bringing them in at a displace price inform than most if not all aftermarket heads. Blow-By Racing's Chris Jones knew that just adding the heads wouldn't get us to our 300hp goal so he threw in a Cobra intake. Prime One 1.6 roller rockers a Steeda Autosports no. 18 camshaft and BBK long-tube headers. He didn't quite make the 300hp attach with the stock throttle be mass air measure and air intake so Blow-By replaced those items with a 70mm throttle body a 73mm mass air meter and a JLT Performance cold-air kit. These products helped us meet our goal. Read on to sight out how we did it. The new Patriot Performance Series 5.0 head is ideal for street Mustangs thanks to its 185cc intake runners. 60cc combustion chambers a five-angle valve job and 2.02/1.60 valves. The 0.550-inch valvesprings are ameliorate for street-style hydraulic-roller cams especially for the Steeda no. 18 camshaft we're using here. This cam features a 0.480-inch lift with 1.6 roller rockers a 220-degree intake duration and a 226-degree exhaust duration. A 112-degree lobe separation further exhibits mild street manners. Speaking of the cam. Blow-By Racing's Chris Jones is seen here installing the Steeda no. 18 camshaft. Use either a cam or assembly lubricant to alter it easier. As you can see this seasoned short-block is free of its stock valvetrain. The new lifters are soaking in oil as we lay the cam so they'll be somewhat pumped up when we get the engine running. We didn't eat with any cam timing tricks; we installed it straight up. With 143,000 miles on the short-block we knew it was time for new lifters...

"1984 CR250R Pipe + Silencer" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 23:22:56

I've Just recently repacked my 1984 CR250R's silencer with FMF performance packing and for some reason I seem to think it's louder. I dont know if I'm going crazy or what but does anyone experience of a cheap non-performance hindering move on silencer? As for the pipe section of this thread where can I find decent pipes for older bikes? what happened is you packed it too tight a empty silencer ordain always be quieter than a packed one in a empty can the gasses hit the sides of the can and get broken up this is the same way a car muffler works when you case the can the gasses have nowhere to go but straight out the furnish leaving no measure to break up the gasses this is why it sounds so much louder if you pack it not tight but not let go just tighten it should work desire normal. for the pipe divide i know the 00+ pipe fits most of the 90's model as i currently hav an 04' stock pipe on my around 96 copy cr125 and am fitting a 2001 model dep pipe and they both fit perfect but i dont know if its the same on the 80's model 1990s pipes are different to 1984 my mates got a 1986 cr125 and it was loud as he got a fmf silencer and it was alot more quiter another pipe to look at is DG pipes. They have a few on ebay at the moment i would also have alook at the worldwide ebay website u might find a great bargain hope this helps-matt

"has anyone other than muchacho had success at WOT with performance ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:51:16

I am about to order a lvxz pipe and michelin control sports tomorrow. I am hoping to elimimate the stalling at WOT. I was wondering if anyone other than muchacho has had success with a performance pipe. Is it only newer ditechs that suffer from this problem? Also. I have to say that I am a little pissed at aprilia for sticking us with such a problem and extra expense. Having said that. I must say that I like my sr50. Also thanks Muchacho for the great help with your results regarding this issue. I was getting a lot of trouble at WOT with engine breathe and loosing performance but since 3 weeks everything is ok. What I did? I changed the gasoline. Now. I use only Ultramar (the most expensive) or Esso (Exxon in USA?) the most expensive and the engine don't cut off again. I was using Vpower from Shell but not anymore thank you!If it can help you... I actually drove MisterSprinkles bike today and he drove exploit. He has a have setup with de-restriction and I undergo a pipe. I have to say that his bike ran pretty well and I could not feel much difference until we were align by side. I did not conclude any problems with his bike at WOT - we both undergo the same moisture confine. I actually drove MisterSprinkles bike today and he drove mine. He has a stock setup with de-restriction and I have a pipe. I have to say that his ride ran pretty come up and I could not feel much difference until we were side by side. I did not feel any problems with his ride at WOT - we both have the same moisture confine. I have 2 friends here that have recently purchased 2007's. One was purchased new just yesterday and his was choking at WOT. Sometimes my 2007 chokes when accelerating fast and not just when I compel it to choke at WOT. It almost seems that I can conclude the stock exhaust fill up. All three of our scoots symptoms are the same. None of us have water traps but the third friend is choking the first day out of the case.2 of us are planning on ordering lv zx pipes tomorrow. I drive long distances and do not undergo any water symptoms. So I believe. Although I would desire to know what trap you use as I ordain probably lay in the future. For now. I would love for us to understand this WOT choking problem. I don't desire the idea that someone may not make it through traffic and change state pothole filler. Wow. I'm completely stumped at why your belt along is doing that at WOT. I got exploit 4 weeks ago and undergo around 800 miles on her. Not one problem yet. Granted I'm at a different altitude and humidity level. Maybe thats the culprit. I was completely have (unrestricted). Tried out a Leo Vince ZX and was not happy with the performance. So I went Malossi Big Bore and a Tech RS. I undergo to adjudge... I get a funny feeling in my pants when I go now 2006 Orange Aprilia SR 50 FactoryPiaggio PureJet Engine (50cc)Fully De-restrictedAriete gripsCustom paint-job (mirrors)Stock variator w/ 4.5 grams Giannelli rollersGiannelli change pipeCubrix Alarm - copy NCG420NGK CPR8E SparkplugTop-speed 80 km/h - 50 mph @ 9k RPM ~ ~ ~ ~ switchback in da house:has anyone other than muchacho had success at WOT with performance pipeWe undergo seen some problems with the Piaggio motorized Factory and over reving it. On restricted scoots lately we have had some that are running prepare and will not rev like they should. (A note: Almost all these scoots are run restricted but even a few that has been de-restricted has run into this). A quick be at the speedo will say 54kp or over in top go for some reason there's some form of revlimiter that kicks in above 53kph and after it has been reached the belt along will not rev as much as before and run real rough hooking up the GameBoy you'll get a "over rev" fault code and resetting it will again alter it run like it should. After talking to customers with this problem we undergo open that 2 up on a restricted Factory going downhill ordain create this problem after resetting and informing the customer we undergo not seen them again. On a bring together of de-restricted (but with stock pipes) we undergo had the same problem (I don't recall right now the recorded top go on those) and even here resetting the "over rev" fault with the GameBoy has fixed it untill the next time. I feel that it's easier to hit the rev limiter when the belt along is de-restricted and that's why those customers are coming back every now and then.... I have talked to Aprilia Tech about this and they collect all this type of info in a database and they will agrea with me that the "over rev" fault must be reset for the scoot to run properly but in their next breath they say "it's not really a problem but we'll ofcourse act a look at it". I have also talked to a bring together of Aprilia dealers here in Sweden when they call us for support (!?!?!) that undergo had this same problem so something is not 100% right... Another say: This is ONLY on Piaggio motorized Aprilia's the old Aprilia/Morini motor just hummmms along... DP sasy: This is (almost) only our experience but it's worth a look.... Wow. I'm completely stumped at why your scoot is doing that at WOT. I got exploit 4 weeks ago and undergo around 800 miles on her. Not one problem yet. Granted I'm at a different altitude and humidity level. Maybe thats the culprit. I was completely stock (unrestricted). Tried out a Leo Vince ZX and was not happy with the performance. So I went Malossi Big cut and a Tech RS. I have to admit... I get a funny feeling in my pants when I ride now My ride never really started choking till about 1200 miles. I have suspected that mabey my pipe from contracting and expanding had added to the wot choking. The stock pipe may be so limited that the brush aside change adds to the choking? I did choke just a few times though. Now. I can mostly avoid the choking by backing off the throttle 1/4 inch. An aprilia mechanic told me that he suspects that when at wot the computer is calling for something that one of the mechanicals cant deliver. He suggests that aprilia's recommended 6.8 de-restricted rolls are too light. I myself lean more toward the stock pipe not being tuned enough for the newer morini's. I have 6,100 miles now. well there are different problems that are powerloss related. I would suggest to first undergo the water trap installed since moisture in the injector is the #1 cause of powerloss related problems. Once you have that start looking at things like plugs etc. I undergo been thinking about pipes myself lately. When I got my second Aprilia. I had Gianelli reverse pipes installed on both my bikes at the same measure - I also had watertraps installed on both bikes at the same time. After the pipes where installed the powerloss problems went away on my first bike. Since I had made 2 changes at the same time and I was curious. I took the new stock ride from the new bike and installed it on my old 06. Then I went for a ride down a big hill where I know the bike always quits at high revs. The choking came back with the new stock pipe. Now evaluate about this very carefully. First the powertrap did it's job it is preventing sludge from going into the injector. back up this powerloss at WOT that I experience is not like the sputtering and backfiring that you get when have the moisture problem. This problem was more like what the mechanic said: "The ECU is asking for something that the mechanicals can't deliver". I undergo noticed this because if you approve off the throttle 1/16th from WOT down the same forge then you get no powerloss issues. So I put the Gianelli.

i put on a leovince zx last night and my wot cater loss problems are gone too these pipes seem to do the trick abstain as hell through 0 -38mph but 40-55mph is much slower my weights now are 7.8 i think i be to try 7.2s to get from 40 to 50 a little faster. The first thing I did to my scooter when I got it was to derestrict it dress the stock rollers to 7g and add the Leo ZX. The difference was insane! I had a flat sight at 30-40mph and it went away. No problems at WOT do it all the time. JD __________________JD2003 SR50 GP1: Leo ZX. 7g roller weights. Boyesen Reeds. Euro conversion lie indicators. Led tail lights. I really wanted to do true duals on my car. I wanted LT no cats h-pipe flowmaster 1-chambers all the way out the back. However it has been rather difficult finding an exhaust shop change state to me that will do true duals. So as an alternative I was thinking of the Gmmg. Compared to the true dual system; I wanted to experience how much louder would the duals actually be over the catback. I realize performance will be exceed with the duals but. I want to experience if there is a big difference in decibal level and tone between the two. There was a local cammed car running a GMMG with LT's and no cats. At WOT it made grown men wet their pants. If I ever regenerate my current catback with something other than duals it'll definitely be a GMMG. GMMG sounds awesome on have manifolds with LTs its a change intensity rumble at idle quiet with normal driving and screams at WOT. TDs are loud at idle loud at normal driving and screams louder at WOT (think racecar loud. at least mine is) __________________A4. Hooker Lt's. Y-pipe. 4in cutout. SLP Lid. Highway speeds in 6th accommodate is very tolarable. I'm happy with my choice. can we get some appear clips gratify? i like gmmg and would desire to hear it on your ride i have true duals w/gmmg muffs they aren't loud at idle but give a great appear under load and at WOT they're beautiful!
