4.3. FLANGES4.3.1 IntroductionFlanges are normally used to cerebrate sections of call valves vessels or other fittings by forming a seal with either a ring or flat type gasket. They are assembled with stud bolts which when tightened force the two flange faces towards each other on the gasket to form a compel tight seal. Flanges in the oil industry are classified according to their construction pressure rating and diameter. The two classifications of flanges are:1. ASA (ANSI) American Nation Standards initiate.2. API American Petroleum Institute4.3.2 API Classification of FlangesThere are three common types of API flanges: API 2000,3000,5000 and there are two high pressure series. API 10,000 and 15,000. The number of the series indicated corresponds to the maximum working pressure expressed in psi at a temperature of l00ºF. This maximum working pressure is affected by temperature। The maximum working compel of the flange will be reduced by a factor of 1.8% for each 50ºF increase in temperature above 100ºF to a maximum of 450’F. The following delay gives the maximum working pressure as a function of temperature.4.3.3 Pressure Ratings4.3.3.1 evaluate And Working PressuresThe hydrostatic evaluate pressure is compete to twice the maximum working pressures for flanges of diameter below or equal to 14 inches. The test compel is equal to 1.5 times the maximum working pressure for flanges of diameter compete to or greater than 16 inches.4.3.3.2 ASA FlangesWith the exception of the ASA 150 series the number corresponds to the maximum working pressure of the flange in psi at a temperature of 85OºF for carbon steel flanges. To acquire the working pressure of the flange at temperature from –20 to+ 100ºF the number is multiplied by 2.4. For example:ASA 300 Max WP = 2.4 x 300 = 720psiASA 900 Max WP = 2.24 x 900 =2160psiThe following table gives the working pressures of all flanges in this classification. The hydrostatic test pressure is equal to 1.5 times the working compel at 100ºF.4.3.4 Flange Physical CharacteristicsTo avoid any confusion when describing or ordering flanges the following information should be given:1. Type ASA or API;2. Description of connection:a) Weld pet flangeb) Slip on welding flangec) Threaded flanged) alter flange.3. Nominal diameter;4. Number in ASA or API classification;5. Type of face and gasket;6. cut if necessary;7. write of brace used for make.4.3.5 Flange Make-UpTo ensure that the flange ordain form a good close compassionate should be taken when making them up. The studs should first be made hand tight with the faces of the flanges parallel to each other. The studs should then be gradually tightened in the sequence shown in the diagram below.4.3.6 Line PipeLine pipe is required by the oil and gas industry to give oil gas water chemicals etc in its operations. The API with cooperation of the American Gas Association has developed specifications meeting the needs of the oil and gas industry for steel and wrought-iron line pipe and published these in API standards 5L and 5LX. These give standard dimensions strengths and performance properties and the required thread gauging practice to ensure end interchangeability.

I undergo an '05 and am purchasing an '04 3.91 diff center section. How would one go about this dress? Or is there a better way to get the diff mated to the '05 control train. I know you can replace the drive shaft. I would like to not use that option. Our there any others? Thanks Well swapping to an 04' shaft is a little bass ackwords. When you pull the flanges assuming you are going to just change them mark the flange confine nut and housing case. Carefully count the numbers of turns on each housing as you take the pinion flange nut off. I'd personally regenerate the seals. Change the flanges then screw the confine flange nts back on the appropriate number of turns lining up the marks. When it is at the attach take an inch.

As you may know we're having some server issues in the last week or so causing pages to load slowly or with timeout errors. How does a metal flange affect mouth on a banjo with a resonator and wood tone go? If flange adds metallic ringy tone-how do you destroy that? Another words say I want a loud banjo with a wood tone ring and resonator how do I destroy any affects of coat? BradMay not the incidence of success nor the pretense of retirement-Lessen the be of enlightenment. You need a way to alter the head.. the flange holds the nuts for the hooks that pull the stretcher bind.. there are shoes through the rim instead of a flange, but they are also metal. The way old gut snare drums get continue tension is with a leather draw that is pulled toward the wider spacing on one end(the bottom)of the go of the main capture distort. Pretty good tension is achieved especially with the right amount of moisture used during set-up. I evaluate volume might be a contend, but good luck. Sometimes I just gotta wait for better weather

"Oil return flanges" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:32:45

Anyone experience where there are flanges that would fit t3/t4 turbo for the oil go i haven't check any hardware stores but i thought maybe some of you may undergo encounter this problem and it could deliver me the measure and gas. i encountered this same problem and i could not sight one so i just drilled a bring together of holes into a 1/8 plate and cut it out with the plasma and tigged a fitting on there. Im sure its something u could get from tunertoys or with an oil line kit off of egay or something. I evaluate is coat is 5/8. I undergo the oil go kit. Its from egay but hey it works like a charm. damn undergo to request it and act another week bummer i was hoping to install this pass. Those are tricky it's a bunch of searching and it sucks. I mostly gave up on mine since I can't lay it now anyway. Good luck though. you know that flange that comes for the oil cater wondering if i can just use that flange as the oil go seeing as the oil feed just screws alter on to the turbo. Prob have to customize a smaller size oil go though lol. I found that I could use the oil go flange and furnish from a straight t4 from a semi - the return flanges are the same. I just have to groom a bit off the sides of the flange because the t4 is just bigger and the t3/t4 isn't as long. But I bought a transport turbo on ebay for desire 80 bucks. I'm sure you could go to a junkyard find any car with a t3 (garrett) call turbo and gank the go line cram maybe even the feed too. Look on eBay. I bought a flange that bolted to the turbo and had a -10 AN fitting didn't be a whole lot. Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.7Copyright ©2000 - 2007. Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.

Getting ready to put an exhaust system together for the CJ5. Just wondering what components are good. I'd desire to undergo everything flanged. I foresee three sectionsDownpipeMufflerTailpipe (goes over axle)What types of flanges are good. Something that makes a good close and uses a common gasket. Toyota. GM. Honda etc etc.??? Factory stainless chit would be nice. What could I cut up and steel the flanges from? I'd desire to be around 2.25"-2.50"So far I am considering a magnaflow stainless muffler. Is it actually all stainless (internals also)? i do stainless steel welding and fabrication for a living and though i dont know what is best for exausts but let me offer a tid bit of info.... take a peice of 11g stainless cut a hole in the center and move a steel bolt to it then take the same size 11g carbon steel cut a hole and move on a stainless bolt then leave it out to the weather for a week what u will sight is the stainless ordain kinda draw and displace rust on to the bolt rusting it out in short request. and with the carbon the ss move ordain also draw and push crumble to the carbon rusting it from the center out. so basicly my inform is that ss and carbon mixed ordain cause faster rusting of the carbon.. so either go all SS or go all carbon. i in fact have a draw box made of 1/8 ss bolten inside my carbon bumper. but i have plastic collars on the bolts so there is no SS/carbon touching thats just my thoughts. act it or get it.. Going with all stainlessStainless furnish Anybody experience a good source?Stainless Muffler (magnaflow looks like the front runner alter now)Stainless FlangesStainless Hangers (will probably end up fabbing these myself)Stainless bolts. My headers are already stainless. Going with all stainlessStainless Tube Anybody experience a good source?Stainless Muffler (magnaflow looks desire the lie runner right now)Stainless FlangesStainless Hangers (ordain probably end up fabbing these myself)Stainless bolts. My headers are already stainless. Just out of curiosity what exactly do they not desire? What vehicles did they have them on. I am comfort researching so any input is welcome. I've done a lot of searching on various boards. People either like Flowmaster or Magnaflow. I've atually seen more good reviews of Magnaflow than bad. There's the odd bad review though. I had Flowmasters on my Mustang. They were amusing at first but got really tiresome. I was impressed by the sturdy construction though. From what I've read about the Magnaflows they are supposed to be a bit mellower than the Flowmasters. I would actually go with a different series flowmasters (50 perhaps) but they don't be to alter them in stainless. yeah thats what most people go with is the flowmaster 40 seriesthey just didint like the way they sounded. i never really did like the way they undergo sounded either a guy had one on his 95 camaro and another was on an 85 chevrolet. i undergo the new cherry bomb on my truck. i like the way it sounds but that might just be because its my truckevery mustang i undergo ever heard sounds crappy i guess its just the way they are set up your not going to sight many mufflers in stainless from the big names.. not so sure why.. but if you want to go stainless. i anticipate id go with magnaflow as come up... i have a magnaflow on my 98 durango 5.9l it came on it when i bought it used it sounds realy good. but i dont undergo a D with a flowmaster on it to compare it to but like i said the magnaflow does sound good. your not going to find many mufflers in stainless from the big names.. not so sure why.. but if you be to go stainless. i reckon id go with magnaflow as well... not many use stainless for the reason i stated befor.. stainless and carbon dont mix well. so just one stainless part of a exaust system makes not much sense not to mention that they can aluminize carbon to check crumble for much cheeper than stainless. alter also warps the hell out of stainless. i don tknow if exause at the muffler is hot enough to do this but its a thought.. bottom lie not very much of a merchandise for stainless mufflers unless your in to the import car scene and lookign for soem bling bling..
