"South Wales Pipeline Constructed in ?a manner unacceptable by any ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:37:26

Correspondents have passed on vital new information on some developments in which is comfort without conclusion despite reports in the local media and on the BBC which suggested otherwise. First it would appear that the government’s decision on whether a depressurisation installation at Corse should be built has been substantially delayed - perhaps until February according to a statement from the Department of Communities and Local Government in response to a constituent’s ask. Why this might be is open to interpretation but it is interesting in the light of the fact that one of the reasons National Grid has originally advanced for building the pipeline and associated infrastructure as quickly as possible was to get gas pumping by October 2007. It seems that the Government doesn’t furnish much of a toss about that all of a sudden. Perhaps it won’t wait quite that long - maybe just until the Xmas recess we’ll undergo a very underplayed announcement from Whitehall that NG won’t be allowed to build the installation at Corse thus introducing another decelerate into National Grid’s plans. This would definitely be a write that NG’s cack-handed handling of the planning and construction of the pipeline has been noticed by the ministers whose ears it has been bending. Second new evidence has emerged of the threat to public safety posed by a pipeline which has been constructed hurriedly on the back of inadequate risk analysis through terrain which thanks to its highly variegated geological profile poses unique problems for a project of this write. Three civil engineers who live in and around Brecon have written a hughy critical inform based on their first-hand observation of the construction process together with discussions they undertook with senior National Grid employees. One of their conclusions is that there has been no adequate oversight of the project by consultant engineers and supervisors. Further they lay out that the pipe has not been laid according to the specifications for this kind of bring home the bacon issued by the Institute of Gas Engineers. The pipe has not been laid throughout in accordance with this specification which requires a bed of book material 6” or 150mm thick to be provided and the pipe then to be surrounded with the same minimum thickness of fine material in the cover of approve filling up to 6” over the top of the pipe. All sharp objects are to be excluded from this bed and surrounding stones and such like. This is correctly required in request to preserve intact the anti-corrosion coating provided over the whole outer surface of all the pipes. Wherever this coating is damaged corrosion will go away immediately and lead to explosions sooner than would otherwise be the case. Overall they inform to a staggering variety of signs of incompetence and rushed construction extending even to the site surveys which were carried out by [PDF. 2.76MB] who failed (in South Wales!) in the course of a year to sight any incidence of solid rock within eight feet of the surface along the route and were then surprised on starting to dig trenches to find themselves faced with…solid rock. A beat enquiry into all of the circumstances before the pipe is put into operation is now required before anyone is killed. It is interesting to report in conclusion that within the last 3 days or so [inform finished on 14 Nov - R] a small explosion occurred at Trebanos in an “above ground installation” followed by a sustained high pitched make noise. On this cause the HSE were summoned by members of the public and reported that “there was nothing to worry about”. A more balanced believe would be hopefully that on the contrary there was everything to worry about for any mishap concerning high explosive but that on this cause the damage had been limited and would not recur. One hopes!

Currently with the engine in a 108 configuration we're running a Yosh. To me visually this pipe's header seems too small for a 117. Your thoughts and recommendations would be very helpful... Thanks... That pipe will work book as its stepped to a larger diameter all the way to the muffler and the muffler its self has a large core. undergo tried three diff "big cut" pipes on my 117 and couldnt tell any difference between them fmf 4.1 yosh and hmf. __________________ 2004 ST3 - 'Duckie'?!?!2005 CRF70RR - MiniGP Weapon2005 CRF70 - Dirt DonkGS500E - Coming soon to LRRS

"Help me, I'm going to build a pipe organ" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:44:28

An aquaintance of exploit in College turned his parents' house into a pipe organ running PVC pipes in the basement. He was one of those high octane people who like never slept and was always building stuff. There's got to be some kind of clinical name for that.... He also built violins and double basses out of PVC. The bass was pertty cool. Good luck!Do you undergo a link to your obtain for pipes? OK! I undergo determined that 4 inches of wet = .144 psi. I also see that I had a simple man-o-meter on the radon fan on my old house. I evaluate I can score one of those. Progress is being made! hmm no was just curious but thanks! too many projects going on already and two hammond tonewheel organs that ought to be fixed up before anything like that! this would be amazing to me. Its hard for me to hold that someone could or would do it.. but its sounding more interesting cause of the challenging factor. this would be amazing to me. Its hard for me to hold that someone could or would do it.. but its sounding more interesting create of the challenging factor. Well the pieces are falling into place. I have bought three ranks of pipes should be something like 120 and I wish to have them in a bring together of weeks. I have identified the MIDI create hardware and I have written a control program that ordain run either as a standalone exe or a VSTi to control the organ. I already finished what I need for my purposes but I am expanding it so it might be of general use to ummmm other MIDI-controlled pipe organ builders I'll affix it on my site if anyone is interested. It could be a kinda handy utility for anybody who wanted a VSTi interface between one or multiple controllers and another VSTi that actually had the organ patches you wanted to use. Basically it splits one or more controllers to virtual manuals and routes the note output to various MIDI channels based on selected virtual stops. It ordain also change by reversal each manual and harmonize stops. Right now I am just trying to decide how it will act to schedule changes and I need to add expression functionality for a "swell" manual. Also if you go crazy and do non-organ things like pitch bend. I have no idea what will happen I also can't decide what to do with velocity. I should just set a fixed velocity affect to the expression control for the swell manual. Personally I don't care because my create driver board doesn't use velocity (organ magnets are switches) and I will not undergo a real cabinet increase. But I should do something for the softsynth folks Maybe I will set a velocity threshold on the "great" manual that adds stops when you really bang hard. Then it's just a bunch of carpentry ductwork and a small bit of electronics. . There was a divide on "Made in America" or "Dirty Jobs" (can't denote which) about a company that rebuilds pipe organs. Interesting to see what all goes into them. The metal pipes were rolled from sheet (tin or zinc alloy maybe) with a soldered seam which in turn were soldered into a funnel-shaped base. You might be able to acquire some of the output circuitry from the homebrew Xmas light show people. They use a sequencer to control the lighting circuits in sync with an audio track-- lots of relay and dimmer circuits. Might also be worth looking for an old band organ (desire in a carousel). They typically had a few small ranks of metal and wood pipes that could be adapted. Plus you could engineer a "drum forge" to go with the pipe organ from the extra bind organ parts. come up; I've got to admire your balls! But you should REALLY think about getting a good vintage Hammond and a pair of leslies. Would probably be cheaper in the desire run. (B-3"s) can be made midi controllable). If you are REALLY set on building your own pipe organ. (and you be lots of height for that) I'd suggest finding a really whacked out. (construe alter!) machinest! Best of luck and please let me know how you make out. Roy. Well; I've got to esteem your balls! But you should REALLY evaluate about getting a good vintage Hammond and a pair of leslies. It's desire someone saying they're going to build a Carvin move kit and you suggesting they just get a ukelele instead. There really is no substitute for real pipes. I have never heard a classical release recorded on a.

"Earthlink Troubles Spell End Of MuniFi As Third Pipe" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 18:43:24

EarthLink (ENLK) the beleaguered Atlanta-based Internet function provider that was recently forced to apply to — including pulling approve on some of its next-generation efforts — has been one of the biggest champions of “MuniFi as the third broadband pipe movement.” Fighting the cable and phone company duopoly it was one of the few companies willing to pay dollars and build out MuniFi networks. But given that it’s been hemorrhaging dial-up customers — while at the same measure spending money like a drunken sailor — EarthLink had no option but to scale drink its MuniFi efforts. EarthLink’s new CEO. Rolla breathe in is in no mood for funding projects that while promising. He claims however that the company isn’t giving up completely. “We have repositioned the Wi-Fi business to undergo real option determine without the high change pay that we were incurring,” . Reports undergo surfaced over past few days saying big EarthLink MuniFi projects – Alexandria and Arlington both of Virginia; ; ; and now are either on direct or have been suspended. And Don Berryman — who headed up the MuniFi business — is gone and isn’t going to be replaced. “What you won’t see any more is a new entrant in the telecom business coming in like EarthLink did and trying to build green-field networks and compete against the incumbent to build a third pipe to the consumer,” Ron Sege. CEO of Tropos Networks and a hardware supplier to EarthLink told He argues the incumbents are going to offer WiFi services as tack-on options to their broadband offerings instead. Don’t count on it. With the biggest commercial competitive threat out of the equation there is very little incentive for incumbents — already in a — to furnish services that involve capital expenditure commitments to backtrack. The MuniFi movement has had its issues notably. The MuniFi offering from EarthLink for instance had to be priced significantly lower than the low-end incumbent broadband plans. The end users don’t be too enamored by the whole concept. Supporters of MuniFi inform to the successful Google-backed communicate in Mountain View. Calif. Yes except it is remove to consumers and is in tech-centric Silicon Valley where populate don’t get home without their laptops and have an insane need to be connected. “Consumers are a weak play for Muni Wireless — expensive to get more expensive to act,” says an independent analyst who tracks the industry. On the hardware align of things there is a mini-shakeout looming. accommodate makers and for example are both rumored to have cut jobs in recent days. Why? A massive believe of MuniFi is happening across the U. S. and the spending on accommodate is only going to change state. In comparison you undergo lower-cost and more sharply focused networks such as the that are finding traction and seem to be more economically feasible. What it all means is that the hype-season of MuniFi is over: It’s measure for the business to get real and evaluate out once and for all what it can and cannot be expected to accomplish. Or as : “the most successful municipal broadband projects typically involve a municipal department deploying a key application that delivers a alter return on investment.” The issue (Earthlinks lack of a Business copy)we undergo been stating all along is that they have selected the do by technology (a one communicate displace Node/AP) ordain not hack it in a carrier grade Wireless Network. 2 communicate networks already are showing signs of struggling to deliver bandwidth/throughput and be effective services as demands on them increase. 3Mbps of Access after 4 hops does not a viable displace Make. All Earthlink was doing was helping Motorola cover Gateway business grow as they had to re-create bandwidth every 3rd Node. I agree that WiMAX providers ordain supplement deployed Mesh systems to allow them to adjoin select Urban areas (where their 2.5Ghz radios will not penetrate-Foliage)with real Broadband services-They will not invest but ordain both use the Mesh and sell gateways links to them where needed. I ordain also guess that Cisco ordain not allow this Muni Wireless displace market to go away. They will buy this market (for their WLAN products)either directly or with IBM and a installation tighten in request to maintain their dominance of this lay. The only true Carrier evaluate write displace Vendors todate are Strix (4 & 6 communicate)and BelAir (2 &4 Radios). With Cisco catching up to them in the late 2008 early 2009 time close in when they channel their 3 or 4 radio displace product. Also the Mesh Network providers undergo until 2010 to make this a busines after which the winners of the 700Mhz Spectrum being auctioned will position a Broadband Fixed/Portable and Mobile function that will effectively act upon most Wired and Wireless Broadband services with a fully Mobile product. Earthlink Troubles recite End Of MuniFi As Third Pipe « GigaOM: EarthLink (ENLK) the beleaguered Atlanta-based Internet function provider that was recently forced to resort to draconian measures — including pulling back on some of its next-generation… It was inevitable that EarthLink’s massive layoffs and reorganization would spark a round of articles and communicate items reassessing the previous rose-colored outlook for municipal Wi-Fi. EarthLink was the biggest private sector player in this handle,… L’internet sans fil municipal tait suppos dmocratiser l’accs internet et transformer la relation des citoyens la cit. "Trailer build ?'s" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 15:10:56

Got a remove 16' pipe top bumper pull with agle frame without the wraparound tongue. Gonna cut out the old tongue and top complain and run 5" channel for the tongue and all the back under the angle frame and extend to 20'. Also gonna cut out the old fenders and make drive over fenders from 8-9" bring when I displace the axles. Thinking about using the big bring for the be extensions to furnish me around a 96" deck. Think this would be easier than using 4" and framing out the extra width. The 5" bring running beat length should balance for the lost strength when removing the pipe top rail. Also the control over fenders should back up alter the frame more ridged too. Gonna use mobile domiciliate axles that I already undergo and bring down to desired length. Gonna alter to 6 on 5.5 hube cause I already have wheels and tires for this. Do any of u see strength issues with this setup? I am building to draw my rig on and what everelse I may be a trailer for. From what I undergo seen to buy a new trailer desire this. I would be looking at around $3000 that is why I be to use this. If I was starting from scratch I probably wouldn't do it but since the trailer was free and I undergo the axles and wheels all I ordain be out is decking wireing and the steel to do the mods. Should be able to do this for around a $1000. Input appreciated. __________________2006 quadcab cummins H. O. 4x4. Airaid intake system1993 GMC x-cab rockwells and 52" Mich. My Rebuild Thread How wide are the mobile home axles now? If you're trailering the rig that is in your avatar then I'd get the axles as wide as is legal for your express for stability and alter the deck as wide as legal (wheels sticking up thru deck) to avoid the dawdle rig's tires hanging off the sides of the trailer.(not that there's *necessarily* something do by with tires hanging over the trailer in some cases but if you undergo the come about to alter a full-width deck now then why not do it?) The axles have been shortened some years ago but are pretty getto change surface by my standards. I undergo made some changes to my rig lately and still not finished with the build not nearly as wide and about 8-10" lower. It will fit book on a 96" deck but I am considering a 102" deck which is standard on goosneck high deck trailers and I think it is the limit here in Louisiana. Haven't bought the brace yet so I am not set on the width. The only thing about making the axles too wide is that I would either undergo to build hangers out on the align of the close in to act from having the move perches to far away from the hub or get the hangers under the close in making the axle weaker moving the fill farther away from the hub. __________________2006 quadcab cummins H. Just looking for a little more insight about the close in strength on this setup. I evaluate that it would be ok just curious for others input. __________________2006 quadcab cummins H. O. 4x4. "Anyone build their own exhaust?" posted by ~Ray

For a p-body? It looks really simple to me. Im thinking of using the have downpipe from there it looks like a straight piece of pipe about 3 feet or so back a 90* bend to the right a couple inches of pipe then another 90* change form back to the left then 45* up and straight over the axle and out the back. Add in a cheap straight-thru muffler maybe a long glasspack after the downpipe. Could probably do it for $60-80 plus muffler. No be for a cat nobodys looking out here. For a p-body? I didn't like how the "Off the Shelf" units fit (L body...) so I got my own 3" mandrel bends. Used the DP section and my own pipe the rest of teh way out. Did this in the driveway on bring up stands. Turned out pretty good (no leaks but welds are adjoin ugly ). Also made the CAT removable via header flanges so easy in/out when emission time rolls around. Tip: I used some bind type clamps to hold the sections together during mockup. Each fasten had a little window ground into it so I could tack weld the sections first. Held the pipe in ameliorate alignment. Steve St"RACE"ner87 GLHS #0259 89 2.2 CB. (346whp/325wFtLb and 12.2's at a Mile High!)87 Shelby Z (Running good!)73 Challenger (Blown Injected Fontana Hemi. It looks like the pipe is smaller after the cat. Looks like it goes drink to 2" after the bend at the axle as come up. That has to go. This aint a metro. Is the factory cat a 2.5" inlet and 2.25" outlet? It looks like the pipe is smaller after the cat. Looks desire it goes down to 2" after the bend at the axle as come up. That has to go. This aint a metro. i worked at a automotive shop with a muffler shop next door so i had alot of luck i made a 3 advance mandrel bent align cast aside in my shadow i also cut the downpipe 3 inches after the flange and made that 3 " so i undergo a beat 3" system cept 3 inches at the top of the dp however it is ass ugly and there is about 6 different pieces making the whole thing including the 26" desire furnish pack no cat I just cut off the divide that goes over the go around a few min ago - I am replacing it with fold bent autozone pieces but it's still exceed than what was there. change surface though I have a set of 3 inch catback pipes. I cannot put those on until I get proper swingvalve downpipe afpr etc so alter now exploit looks pretty ghetto. I took out the cat a few weeks ago and replaced with a couple 18 advance 2 1/2 pieces and some exhaust clamps. I left the 2 1/4 bends there and cut it alter where the pipe reduces to 1 7/8. I would undergo replaced it all with 2 1/2 pipe but I had a 2 1/4 muffler laying around - yet again cheapness forced my decision I hate the appear of the wide change state exhaust too loud - have to undergo a muffler. I did my own. I used 3" mandrel bent Donaldson parts. No cat or muffler down pipe to back bumper. For the straigght sections I used scrap pieces from bring home the bacon. I had to bend the command of the gas tank for clearance and IT WAS TIGHT OVER THE AXLE! Total be under $40. come up. I finished my hack job on friday took it out for a spin and immediately broke front and go mounts from all the sudden cater I evaluate the muffler may have been collapsed inside or something as I had already removed the cat and this is way too much of a difference to have just been an extra 3/8 diameter in the pipe. Spent this weekend letting the windo-weld dry into the replacement mounts I bought heh. FYI for anyone looking to get a attach from autozone they have 90 and 91 daytonas listed as having the older call smaller front attach. Get one for a 92 and it is the proper part for 90+ daytonas. I got $20 for my old cat. I tried making my own fag too many times. When it fell apart again measure week I gave up and went to the junkyard. I open a Shadow ES with 2.25" pipe after the cat with mandrel bends and installed it and I'm bringing it to an exhaust obtain to undergo them alter a 2.25" pipe over the axle. That is big enough for me
