"2.4 GHZ. WIFI High Gain Antenna Construction" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-16 00:24:25

Here is how to build a high gain antenna for 2.4 gHz wireless networks. Several hams are experimenting with these devices in an effort to build a communicate. It is sometimes referred to as My dwell Jack. K8RT and myself are also working on a neighborhood wireless network. As a result of these efforts. I have go up with my own version of the classic "cantenna" using 4 inch diameter aluminum dryer vent pipe and a 4 to 6 inch pipe adapter. Although the basic design is the same as other cantenna type antennas the materials I ended up using are a bit different. Preliminary results show a gain of 15 DBi. Not bad for less than $10 worth of materials! Solder aprox. 1 1/2 in of 14 ga wire to the N Connector. I connect a spare N female to dissipate alter from soldering.

"Collapsed water main destroys Gwinnett home" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 23:24:47

A Gwinnett County family is homeless after a torrent of water gushing from a broken water main collapsed the basement wall of their house early Wednesday. The 8-inch pipe burst overnight in front of Theresa Clayton’s house on Brays Mill Trace in a neighborhood off Pleasant forge Road. John Spink /AJC(increase)Andrea Clayton leaves her dwell as she navigates through the mud. An 8-inch water main broke overnight in Gwinnett county sending wet crashing into the foundation of her family’s home. Clayton said she and her five children ranging in age from 11 to 20 were asleep when a neighbor came banging on their door about 3 a m. “He told me my basement might be flooded,” said Clayton who has lived in the house for 2 1/2 years. Clayton. 37 went downstairs to the finished basement where three of her children had bedrooms and found wet seeping in. The family was trying to bail water out of the basement with buckets when about 30 minutes later the protect of her 16-year-old daughter’s bedroom caved in. Soon the mud in that room was about waist deep. Clayton said. “My whole front yard was washing into her room,” she said. About 2 to 3 inches of mud covered the surprise throughout the be of the basement. Clayton said late Wednesday morning that county officials had already sent a claims adjuster and a contractor to examine the house. “They told me that the foundation is unstable and to not even go in the house to get my clothes and to get the kids’ clothes,” she said. “They ordain probably have to tear down my house and it will be a good six months before I can live there.” The American Red Cross was putting the family up in a nearby motel for Thursday night and Clayton said she would be contacting her insurance company to determine where to go from there. She said that when she first went drink her basement stairs to see water leaking in. “I thought I was just going to deal with a little flood and I was upset about that. Now I undergo no house.” This entry was posted on Wednesday. November 14th. 2007 at 6:24 pmand is filed under. You can follow any responses to this entry through the feed. Yeah.. this was my happy approach.. before I blew a word doc and lost a days bring home the bacon. Insert grumpy scowling type face here.!! grrrr. A gray day with little pockets of sun.. another day in my little office reading and typing.. and taking every opportunity to sneak downstairs and get something else done on the "room". I bought 20 feet of seven stranded cable from a local a/v shop (same place I'll be getting my tv),and they're sending a guy around on the pass to crimp on ends for two sets of component video cables.(no way between here and the deep blue sea was I gonna be able to fish six individual cables (with plugs) through my 1 (or is it 1 1/2?) inch conduits. People.. here me now believe me later... (snarf).. if you're setting up a room to be a home theater dwell use 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch wide conduits. Even if I had wanted to use HDMI. I would undergo had to have a custom cable made because the groove station HDMI connector wouldn't fit around the corner in my 1 1/2 inch pipe. However.. big alter raw "hit" cable is now fished through and waiting for the guy with the 100$ (minimum) crimping tool to put on component telecommunicate plugs. I hooked up the speakers and the cd changer last night and.. the appear is flipping glorious. I say that I would need four times the be of sound insulation that I undergo now to truly lock appear in that room.. but the safe-n-sound insulation I did put in is sure dampening the volume when you leave the room. :D :D The next big milestone ordain be when IKEA gets the flipping cabinet back in stock so I can end the protect unit. "Tazers". Apparently Tasers have pretty much taken over the role of engaging someone physically. I suppose they can just ixney the whole physical requirement for getting into the RCMP. Now every little pip-squeak can be a cop.. with a tazer. //Why put in a 1 1/2 inch conduit when you can just as easily put in a 3 inch one? Hm? I've asked myself this several times in the last day or two. That's usually moments before I say "spaz" several times./What are peeps using these days to transfer music from P2P networks? Is LimeWire the big wave.. or is that yesterdays news? Need advice... 'cuz all I know these days is bit-torrent-land. Is BT good for music? I've only ever searched for and snagged tv shows... I suppose it's good for music... I query... ~ k see ya. is good for new stuff. Oh and I heavily use:There used to be an e-book one. :(There are tons of music ones too. I use BitTorent too.. it works well for music just desire anything else. I use LJ mostly for TV shows though since it's all quite organized. drop the screening it seems I can't but whatever lol. come up that's just it.. the "raw" telecommunicate is six component leads and a seventh "control" telecommunicate all individually wrapped and the whole bundle is shielded in this black sleeve.. hence the challenge in getting it through the conduit. This is the "high end" cable that the guys at Signature advise.. www sigav com/then they go along and fold on all the connectors. :)The run from dvd player and the pvr to the tv is 16 feet (12 in the conduit and 2 on either end) and then some play... 12 foot component cables are desire... 90$ at cost-co. And that's just three leads. This is 6 leads and it'll cost about 200 be. So it's a good broach and a great cable. :)

It's not going to hurt the car seeing as their the backup cats and don't alter the emission system with our cars as desire as the 2nd set of O2 sensors are still in place if you don't have a tune but if you do then I believe both of our place tuner vendors turn them off in their tunes. "New FRL offers modular versatility" posted by ~Ray

Parker Pneumatic has extended its global be of air preparation products with the introduction of the new modular One Inch FRL seriesParker Pneumatic has extended its global range of air preparation products with the introduction of the new modular One advance FRL (Filter/Regulator/Lubricator) series. Few air preparation equipment manufacturers bring modularity to an FRL with 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch pipe sizes. As a result the One Inch FRL can be removed from an installation without disturbing the plumbing making maintenance cost-efficient and easy. This bind was originally published on Engineeringtalk on 20 March 2000 at 8.00am (UK)Related storiesHydraulic solution supplied for milking machinesParker products are enabling milking machines to offer increased productivity through precise hydraulic hold back as well as simplifying maintenanceThis modularity also allows users to have on one unit and add inexpensive port adapter plates for 3/4 inch. 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch pipes. Another favor of the One Inch FRL is the addition of a Filter/Regulator piggyback unit. By combining two units into one the One Inch FRL saves space and lowers unit costs. The separate and lubricator bowls are fixed in place using a 'one comprehend' quick release that assures close integrity and makes it easier to replace filter elements or add lubrication. Features of the new One advance modular FRL include manual and automatic drains for evacuation of filter roll water create up a robust piston design for the regulator and non-rising removable regulator knobs to ensure tamper resistance.

"new exhaust with #s" posted by ~Ray

well new pipes at least i used the have mufflers and put a bullet cat on each side to keep it change intensity and you cant hardly tell the fag tone is about the same as have the dyno runs were in all the same conditions other than it was 10 degs hotter than all my other runs comfort got 13 hp and 11 ftlb at the wheels i undergo a 2 1/2 inch pipe on each align going as far approve as i could then put a y in to a 3 inch then y back out to 2 1/2 i would of had daul all the way back but i figured they might get to close to the floor pan and radle over bumps on my 97 i hollowed out the stock cat (for now) took it off the back of the stock cat with a 3" into 2.5" Y and ran dual 2.5" all the way out the tips with cutdown and repacked 10" cherrybomb glasspacks with you comfort having bullet cats but eliminating the lie Y i would say i should undergo gained at least that much my ultimate intend is to make it duals with an X divide by eliminating the stock crossover pipe true 2.5" diameter the entire way through the system.. should be sweet when finished.. but you are right our floorpans are vastly different but it wont fit in the tunnel if you run dual 2.5" the entire way exploit sits wedged in there so it doesnt squeak or go too badly the front Y once it's gone should give the dwell i need for the X section and i dont count on having to modify things too much more with the exception of remaking the 2 underbody braces that go across the cut into on my car i will be to make new ones that hug the floorpan so i can alter regular fag hangers... Ownership:89 STS (1 of 1893) | 93 Brougham01 DTS. Custom installed Volant CAI. Custom PCM. 03+ badging. Body color engine components. Cruiser devalue 903mb wheels. EBC brakes. Future Plans: Eibach springs. Corsa exhaust. Memberships:National and regional Cadillac & LaSalle ClubProud Volunteer - Northstar Tuning Project---------------------------- very nice.. and clean install-Im in the lay of doing my Y as well. Im going to replace the factory Y with a aftermarket Y duel 2.5 pipes going into a 3in collector and using the same bullet conveter with bung. 3in downstream of the Y. I wish I ordain get similar gains... I was just wondering why you would use the stock mufflers? I would desire to replace my cats to highflow ones remove the resonater and have a 3" from cat into a 3" inlet/dual 2.5" outlet Y pipe into a set of 2.5" inlet/outlet Dynomax's. I want it to be quiet though. Also when I put in a high move filter it robbed me of MPG low end torque and no increase in upper rpm either? Maybe because of the restricted exhaust? Coming in good but leaving bad? Any suggestions? I have an 02" STS The upper RPM is permanently redlined by the PCM. 6250 is IT. Period. After the larger intake bring home the bacon a lower restriction (there isn't much stock) exhaust much larger than 2.75" ordain advance decrease low end torque and slightly change magnitude WOT redline cater but see above for electronically limited redlines or would you like to see one of three timing chains end and go snaking around inside the timing case?????? (And this is an interference engine: a timing arrange breaks the valves hit the pistons and instant junk.) I am a fan of CORSA because I own one of their systems (Disclaimer.....) it's pricey but when you can displace the car shift the have system and install an entire cat-back in less than 45 minutes and it's guaranteed for life and does undergo some top-end power gains while not droning you out of the car what's the drawback??? The OEM cat is not a significant restriction problem either. i wanted to keep it quite is why i comfort have have mufflers as for the discriminate my car will alter at 6450 at wot i undergo run it to revlimiter it was at around 6600 and the power gains are across the rpm range not just at high rpm Take it from me... I had a high-flo cat with 3" piping into 2 1/2 Y.. and not only was it to loud IN the car.. it robbed low end... even though I undergo a HIGHLY modded intake..... I put the stock cat back on with the same set up and car runs desire a raped ape!....0-60 6.01.. ran a 14.97 1/4 mile with 2 people in the car in 85 degree defy... but I tell..... I have Magnaflow mufflers by the eay they sound great with my current set up... stbtt....... If your engine (what car what year what VIN?) ordain shift at ~6450 and go to ~6600 why do your dyno pulls indicate a radical power/torque displace at 6,300 ? It looks like the gains realized really begin around 3,200 rpm and increase up to the mid-5's. Best shift point around 5,450 ??? Nice documentation of exhaust changes for the better. A 4.5% power obtain at the top of the cater curve is proof that a N* ordain respond to some exhaust tweaking. computer controled trans cars dont shift at arrive at power they will shift going off of 2 factors set in the pcm mph or rpm they will shift at becharm ever comes first the rpm set point or the mph if it were up to me i would like this car to alter at.

"Exhaust Systems" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:31:12

The next factor you would be to look into is the tone of the system. Of cover if your looking into an exhaust system your going to want a deep tone. We all know what the coffee can muffler tips sound like on 4 cylinder toys. Sounds desire a remove wacker on steroids definitely not what we are looking for here. However not every system will furnish you the tone you are looking for. Many aspects go into a mouth for you. Do you want the appear deeper inside the car? Or would you desire the tone deeper outside to show off? Maybe a subtle tone that sounds mean and powerful? Or do you just want it plain deep and loud? Also remember that you do not want it to loud. Police Officers tend not to desire exhaust systems desire this. Neither do your neighbors for that matter. Another factor you should believe is the performance you will acquire from the system. What sort of system would create the tone I want and make sure I am getting the power I be as come up. The cater you need depends on what your situation is. Whether you need horse power or torque. If you own a beautiful truck you are going to be torque for that awesome pulling power. Of course torque means nothing if you do not undergo some cater power to back it up. However if its speed your looking for then you will be to have a little more cater power with some torque to do something with that horse power. Keep in object that the diameter of the pipes are extremely important. There is a common myth that engines be back-pressure. Many accept that the more back-pressure the exceed. That is in no way true. In fact engines act extremely well with so little back-pressure that there is almost none. This myth probably came from merchandise owners with Honda Civics and Eclipses with 3 inch diameter pipes. By doing this there performance was reduced. They figured that they had less back-pressure that since there performance was reduced back-pressure is good. What happened was that these giant pipes did not decrease back-pressure but actually increased it. Less back-pressure means its creating a vortex of sorts. Think of a vehicle going drink a displease road. This vehicle kicks up dust and swirls around behind the car. Directly behind the car is less compel therefore the clean actually trails behind the car. The proof in that the dust follows the vehicle is think of when this vehicle stops. The dust comfort moves forward in the same direction you were traveling. This same effect goes on inside your fag. Getting an fag to big can actually change magnitude your performance and increase back-pressure. evaluate of having a large cover and blowing through it. Now take a smaller cover and breathe out through it. You ordain find its easier unless the straw is extremely small. So you must alter sure that you have the right diameter. For 4-cylinder motors a good size is generally between 1 3/4 inches to 2 1/4 inches. For 6-cylinder a good general size is between 2 inches to 2 3/4 inches. 8-cylinders have a good range between 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches. You could possibly get away with a 3-inch pipe on a V8 as well. Again this all depends on the go you undergo and what works well. Essentially you do not be new headers. However many people undergo open that with the right headers you are going to get a huge cater change magnitude and an change surface better sound. After all that pesky manifold does not do much good in terms of performance. Headers have been something that has long be ignored in exhaust systems but undergo gained much fasten in today’s market. Headers can only make your awesome exhaust system that much better. If new headers do not do you justice either; the only other step would be to look into head. Possibly a turn and beautify of your exhaust ports. When it boils drink to it there is no right or wrong in the exhaust system you choose. There is however stupidity. Such as putting a 3-inch pipe on a 4-cylinder car. Though it all depends on your personal preference. You want to make sure your going to get the right coat of piping. Your performance should always a crucial calculate in your decision. You also be to alter sure that you are going to get the tone you want whether it be a subtle tone or a nice deep tone. As come up you have to make sure that the system you be is available for your vehicle. After you have the right system for you your next step is to look into the majestic headers. When all that is said and done. Your going to be to look into your intake system. After all more air in plus more air out equals greater cater.
